ARTS SCHOOL

COMPETITION

The historical context of the city of Florina is captured in the proposal for a uniform building broken down into seemingly smaller volumes that have their reference in the city’s traditional architecture. The plasticity is a gesture to local forms and materials found in the region and will provide a landmark within the university campus. The building is “fractured” based on geometric, materiality and sustainability principles, providing stable natural light required in an art’s school, internal courtyards, integration into the landscape and binding city, landscape and art. The final impression is a small part of the city landscape with a strong character of a fine arts building.
